On our recent visit to Colorado, we decided to hike Horsetooth Resevoir with twins and it was beautiful!
Its a def must see location. We went with family members and it cost us a total of $6 per vehicle to enter the park and the path was all ours to explore on our own.
At the beginning of our walk I felt out of breath so I paced myself and made a couple of scenic stops along the way. After 15 mins I was able to breathe normal again and continued our walk. I kept monitoring the babies and they were doing great. The entire path felt safe with guided signs and open trail.
We went on a day that was cloudy and drizzling so of course are shoes got covered in mud.
You can go to Horsetooth and stroll through the woods at your own pace with no problem. On the way to the top of the rock theres hills, rocky paths and also leveled smooth paths. theres plenty of photo opportunities before getting to the absolute top without climbimg any rocks.
We went on a cloudy day which sucked cause the view was hidden but the experience of hiking as a family was great.
We used the Infantino baby carrier and both babies were fed prior to starting our 2 hr walk up. They were babbling away enjoying the view and the refreshing smell of pine trees. once they fell asleep we flipped them towards us and continue walking.
When we reached the last part of the hike, we flipped the babies to our back so that we could use our hand to climb 2 mins of the rock to reach the top.
The only scary part was the last 5 mins of the hike which involved climbing the rock to get to the top. Once again, this isn’t for any parent with baby. You don’t have to go all the way to the top, if you wish you can stay below the rock.
Believe it or not, it was much scarier not seeing the ground but still worth it. We sat for a few to admire the quietness and white surroundings and fed the babies at 7,032 feet. I felt like we were floating in the sky, it was definately peaceful and magical.
